Padmaloka is a Buddhist retreat centre for men and hosts a wide variety of retreats exploring Buddhism, Buddhist Meditation and yoga. The retreats at Padmaloka are suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced, and you don't have to be a Buddhist to benefit from them.

Padmaloka is set in the quiet village of Surlingham, on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. Padmaloka (originally known as Lesingham House) is an old country house surrounded by five acres of delightful gardens, with nature reserves and bird sanctuaries nearby.

Padmaloka retreats vary in length, from weekends, to one week, through to a full fortnight. Their retreats are reasonably priced and Padmaloka will make concessions for anyone on low income. Travel to Padmaloka is easy by public transport. It is only 7 miles from Norwich (Norfolk) and just one hour 40 minutes by direct train from London.

Padmaloka Buddhist Retreat Centre was established in 1976 by members of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO) and today is run by a full time resident community.

There is an excellent Buddhist library and bookshop at Padmaloka, and a large and spacious shrine room for meditation.

All of the food provided at Padmaloka is vegetarian and is well renowned for being delicious. Sleeping accommodation at Padmaloka is in small and comfortable dormitories.
